Originally from Chicago, Ed has lived in rural Richland County his entire adult life. He maintained a productive general practice for over 20 years. He served three terms as the county District Attorney before being elected to the Circuit Court in 1997. He retired from the bench in 2011 and returned to private practice.

As an active judge, Ed’s law related activities included the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s Policy and Planning Advisory Committee and the Wisconsin Judicial Council. Ed served as a member of the boards of the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission and the Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation. He co-founded Court & Community, Inc., a non-profit organization in Richland County operating a Free Legal Clinic and served as its first president.

Ed was a longtime contributing editor to Midwest Flyer Magazine and wrote the Grassroots and Recreational Flying column in addition to submitting occasional feature articles. He also wrote on aviation maintenance topics dealing with Light Sport Aircraft for other aviation publications.

In his retirement, Ed serves on the governing board of a local hospital. He enjoys working in his airport shop, which allows him to focus on aircraft maintenance and restorations. He also enjoys flying, spending time outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
